Hello friends!

I’m a wife, mom, and a high school teacher. This blog is mostly devoted to the “teacher” aspect of my life.

I received my undergraduate degree in Education from Texas A&M (whoop!) and my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of St. Thomas. I am certified to teach ELAR (English Language Arts and Reading) in grades 4-8 and 8-12. I currently teach an  intervention-style writing course in a rural school district in Texas.

I love kids and I love being a teacher (although I hate it when people say that… its seems like it’s become the expected and default answer to “Why did you become a teacher?”) Because I’m a nerd, I especially enjoy looking at curriculum. The challenge of matching, scaffolding, and sequencing the skills into something the kids and other teachers will understand is my bread and butter. See, I’m a teacher nerd.

I’m not a sit-at-the-desk kind of teacher. I like to use a variety of teaching techniques. My goal is to make the kids work hard without feeling like they are because I’ve made the content easily comprehensible and fun. I’ll try to share activities and lessons that I am particularly proud of throughout the year on this blog, as well ideas that I’ve found or created about ELA curriculum. Occasionally I’ll sprinkle in a few posts here and there of random anecdotes about my students and family.

If you have any questions, or want to share ideas, please feel free to email me at MandySager@gmail.com or follow me on Twitter @MrsMandySager.

You can also look for me on www.teacherspayteachers.com, where I occassionally post free and  for-purchase materails under the user name Mandy Sager.

Thank you for visiting my blog!
